Performer Notes
  • Fancy: Annie Kavanagh (vocals); Les Binks (drums); Ray Fenwick, Mo Foster.
  • 2 LPs on 1 CD: WILD THINGS/TURNS YOU ON.
  • This twofer brings together the first and second albums by the 1970s commericial pop-rock outfit Fancy. Featuring session musicians and fronted by a Penthouse pet, the band had hits with their cover of "Wild Thing" and their song "Touch Me," both of which are here.
  • Personnel: Ray Fenwick (vocals, background vocals); Phil Kenzie (tenor saxophone); Bud Parks, Mike Bailey (trumpet); Henry Spinetti, Clem Cattini, Eric Dillon (drums); Mike Hurst (background vocals).
  • Liner Note Author: Mike Hurst.
  • Recording information: Music Centre, Wembley, England.
  • Photographers: Mo Foster; Ray Fenwick.
  • Arranger: Fancy.
  • Both of the band's two LPs are combined onto one CD on this reissue, with the addition of extra material. The comprehensive liner notes by producer Mike Hurst are a welcome addition. But there seems to be no ready answer as to why; in the space of a 12-page booklet, there are no indications as to which song comes from which album. And although the cover boasts "two original albums on one CD -- plus three bonus tracks," there are also no indications as to which of these 20 songs are bonus tracks, and whether they were unreleased, non-LP singles, or what. All that aside, it's a definitive document of the work of an average, white blues-funk hard rock band who managed to get a couple of American Top 20 hits by happenstance. ~ Richie Unterberger
