Vonda Shepard has a certain stylistic charm that comes through in her vocals. She can make a cover tune sound like her own, and her own tune like an undeniable hit. This collection of music from the ALLY MCBEAL TV show contains both, and is a delightful record. Vonda has the breakthrough album of her career here, after singing background for Jackson Browne and scoring a hit with Dan Hill on "Can't We Try." Some songs are done as pop, some country and some as ballads, all with Vonda's wonderful voice in full effect. She does an uptempo take on "Hooked On A Feeling," a soulful rendition of "Tell Him," and a warm piano ballad version of "I Only Want To Be With You."
