Performer Notes
  • Audio Mixers: Diplo; Skrillex.
  • Photographers: Shane McCauley; Josh Goleman; Caeser Sebastian; Jas Davis.
  • Superstar recognizes superstar on the self-explanatory EDM mega release Skrillex and Diplo Present Jack , a big team LP that's as loud, and as lax, as expected. That latter bit is a minor quibble as the album is paced like a prime-time mainstream club set with no breathers or sensible pacing allowed, but "Don't Do Drugs Just Take Some Jack U" delivers on its ambitious title, as does "Take U There," especially in its remix featuring Missy Elliott. "Where Are Now," featuring Justin Bieber, is the most pop this mostly club-aimed monster gets, so go nuts, go dumb, and wait for the drop, because waking the neighbors or filling the floor are two things this album does with ease. ~ David Jeffries
Professional Reviews
Rolling Stone - 3.5 stars out of 5 -- "[A] wonderfully trim set that's as forward-sounding as any dance release in recent memory....They quickly push on to new ground, or at least new levels of intensity."

Spin - "[The album] returns Skrillex to his roots -- laying perfectly corroded, blue-screen-of-death synth pretzels under the clap-happy statement-of-purpose 'Beats Knockin'' and the bleeding-amplifier reggaeton of 'Jungle Bae.'"

NME (Magazine) - "JACK ' crash lands squarely between tropical chart pop and dance tent-slaying EDM....It can be outrageously good fun."
