Performer Notes
  • Recorded live on October 5th and 6th, 1990 in London and Kitchner, Ontario.
  • SHUT UP AND DIE LIKE AN AVIATOR was released after the incredible string of GUITAR TOWN, EXIT O, and COPPERHEAD ROAD. Steve Earle & The Dukes are a rarity in their field, in that they are equally commanding and at home both in the studio and on stage. With a fine catalog already under the band's belt, Steve Earl & The Dukes had plenty of strong material to draw from for this set.
  • Throughout, the selections are given all the room they need to properly flourish, helping create a masterfully paced set that is rife with riveting dramatic tensions. Toward the end, the band throws in a cover of the Sir Douglas Quintet's "She's About a Mover," then blows the roof off with "The Rain Came Down." Following in the long-standing tradition of pulling out a cover for an encore, the band wraps up the night with Jagger and Richards' "Dead Flowers." Exuberantly played and warmly rendered, SHUT UP AND DIE LIKE AN AVIATOR is a winner.
