After a debut that showcased his rapping and a sophomore release that leaned more toward urban contemporary, Ray J's third album finds him following in the footsteps of sex-drenched R&B crooners like Usher and R. Kelly. (R. Kelly even appears here, producing and performing on "Quit Actin'"). In fact, RAYDIATION has more than its share of all-star guests, with appearances by Fat Joe ("Keep Sweatin'") and Timbaland (who produces "Unbelievable") among the most notable.
But Ray J's silky smooth whispers and falsetto embellishments are center stage throughout, with lots of mid-tempo slow-and-steady jams and bedroom ballads rounding out the mix. While not a standout in the genre, the strong production and guest-star quotient makes this a satisfying, radio-ready pop-R&B effort.
