The late, great John Fahey helped turn a generation of folk kids on to the blues in the 1960s (not to mention turning a generation of hipster kids on to folk in the '90s), and his "American Primitive Guitar" stylings are unequalled to this day. The Vanguard collection is by no means a complete overview of his exhaustive catalog, but it nicely showcases his better-known tunes (including "Yellow Princess" and all four parts of "Requiem for Molly"), working as a basic but sturdy introduction to the artist.
