After garnering slews of underground accolades for its live shows and monstrous debut, HEALTH, the L.A. quartet ventured as far as it could away from its city's famous underground club, The Smell, with //DISCO, the second release that bears the band's name. A remix album of their debut featuring Crystal Castles and fellow Angelenos Acid Girls, among many others, //DISCO's raison d'ˆtre is for the remixers -- inspired by HEALTH's creativity with noise -- to re-create their intensity for the dancefloor. While the relationship between these remixes and the originals can be a stretch at times, the collection stands on its own as searing headphone candy set to thumping club beats. ~ Pat Sullivan
