The cult Australian band Hunters & Collectors never achieved the international success of their contemporaries Midnight Oil, but, as this 1990 set shows, it wasn't through lack of trying. Cuts such as the opener, "When the River Runs Dry" and the title track blend a dark, apocalyptic vision with commercial approachability, while the meandering, dappled "Lazy Summer Day" and the rocking, Stonesy "Crime of Passion" display a musical vision that encompasses both '60s psychedelia and rootsy R&B.
