Performer Notes
  • Personnel: Martin Higgins, Alex Redfern (midi).
  • Patrick Doyle's romantic orchestral score for Disney's Kenneth Branagh-directed live-action version of Cinderella marks the pair's 11th film collaboration. The warm, optimistic music, performed by the London Symphony Orchestra, offers multiple walzes and polkas, including the elegant "La Valse de l'Amour," during which Ella charms her prince at the ball. Listeners may recognize the traditional folk song "Lavender's Blue," which is used thematically in the score to represent Ella's mother. The soundtrack also includes three songs: the end-credits ballad "Strong," written by Doyle and performed by Sonna Rele, and two songs from the classic 1950 animated version in "A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes," sung here by title-role actress Lily James, and "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo (The Magic Song)" by Helena Bonham Carter's Fairy Godmother. ~ Marcy Donelson
