While often credited for laying much of the foundation for the Dirty South movement, UGK (the duo of Pimp C & Bun B) danced to the rhythm of a different drum loop (an immensely unfair and inapt turn of phrase for an act as likely to employ live musicians as sample). From their earliest days in late-1980s Houston, the pair called on a vast and eclectic array of influences to create hip-hop as it had never quite been heard before. BEST OF captures a sly selection of UGK's singles up to the unfortunate day Pimp C was incarcerated (he would ultimately die well before his time).
