Chao has gathered a large amount of raw material, much of which is statistical in nature. Libraries will find Chao's work useful for it primary source material, much of which is published in Chinese. Library Journal Chao has attempted an ambitious project. His book can be read in conjunction with the works of H. Kent Geiger and Ch'ing-K'un Yang. CHOICE The book is useful for researchers and teachers interested in cross-cultural analyses of sex roles and for those who have a more general interest in social effects of political ideology.
