Older brother of novelist Henry James, William James (1842-1910)
was a philosopher, psychologist, physiologist, and professor at
Harvard. James has influenced such twentieth-century thinkers as
Richard Rorty, Jurgen Habermans, Michel Foucault, and Julia
Kristeva.
