Stephen Addiss is professor of Japanese art at the University of Richmond. Gerald Groemer teaches Japanese music history and ethnomusicology at the University of Yamanashi, Kofu, Japan. J. Thomas Rimer is professor emeritus at the University of Pittsburgh.
