RAJ KAUR KHAIRA is a lawyer and operations specialist who is passionate about children's literacy and education. In response to what she felt was the urgent need to raise the value of women she founded in 2015 the innovative Pink Ladoo Project, an initiative encouraging the equal treatment of new born girls in South Asian families. It has become one of the most prominent feminist movements for South Asian women globally, with a following in communities across the UK, Canada, the US and Australia. The campaign's success has led her to be regarded as an influential and credible thought-leader.
"Real-life strong females are legion in Raj Kaur Khaira's nonfiction compendium...This call to courage celebrates warrior queens of Bangladeshi, Indian, Nepalese and Pakistani heritage...in doing so, it highlights a morass of injustice - sexism, homophobia, the abuse of power - but in matter-of-fact language designed to highlight obstacles overcome."--The Guardian
