Dean S. Lewis, MT, is an author, life coach, and public speaker. Originally intending to work in clinical laboratory sciences, he suffered a critical illness in 1998 which, after four months in the hospital, left him with severe peripheral neuropathy. Over the next two years Dean relearned how to walk and perform the basic functions of everyday life. With the help of corrective surgery, physical therapy, and perseverance, he is now able to walk without the assistance of any devices. Dean uses his experience to help others in a variety of ways, including through his website http: //www.livingwithperipheralneuropathy.com, which "Neurology Now" featured as one of the top patient blogs for peripheral neuropathy, and his debut book, "Peripheral Neuropathy: Nine Simple Steps to Reduce the Pain." Dean currently lives in New Jersey with his wife and son.
