A sweet ode to boyhood that demonstrates the high esteem in which
surprising qualities - such as whistling - can be regarded in a
young child's mind
*Junior*
Browne has woven in lots of details for the observant child to
discover. Whimsical cartoon characters are sketched in coloured
pencil on lined notepaper and you get the feeling a child played a
part in the making of this book
*Irish Independent*
As we have come to expect from Anthony Browne, this picture book is
full of wonderful illustrations and imaginative text. It is a great
book for discussing a child's place in the family and things they
like about each other and would be useful resource for introducing
a topic on the family and ourselves. A brilliant book for brothers
to share

In another nod to brotherly loves comes My Brother by Anthony Browne, a follow-up to My Mom and My Dad (described by PW as "an endearing paean to patriarchs"). A younger brother chronicles everything "cool" about his older brother: his jumping, climbing, skateboarding, bubble blowing, dancing and more. As the list grows longer, the younger sibling-clearly influenced by his older brother's style-realizes that he's pretty cool himself. (FSG, $16.00 32p ages 5-up ISBN 978-0-374-35120-5; Apr.)
