Nick Hannes (Belgium, b1974) graduated from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent (B) in 1997. After working as a freelance photo-journalist for ten years, he decided to fully concentrate on long term documentary projects about social-political issues. In 2009 he published the book Red Journey, a documentary about transition in the former Soviet Union. His second book, Tradities (2011), takes a closer look at traditions and party culture in Flanders. Mediterranean. The Continuity of Man, his third book, is the result of 4 years of intensive travelling along the Mediterranean shore. Since 2008, Hannes has taught documentary photography at The School of Arts (KASK) in Ghent. He exhibited at FotoMuseum (Antwerp), Bozar Centre for Fine Arts (Brussels), Flanders Center (Osaka), Cosmos Gallery (Paris), BredaPhoto (NL), Thessaloniki Biennial of Contemporary Art, Kaunas Photo (Lithuania). Hannes is represented by Cosmos in Paris.
