About the Author

Author John Shawcroft, for 20 years editor of the Ripley and Heanor News, has written four previous books on Derbyshire cricket. Two histories, an account of the 1904 match with Essex 'The Rise and Fall of Percy Perrin' and 'Derbyshire Bowlers'. He still works part-time as a journalist and lives in Ripley with wife Gillian.
