Reviews

This book comes hot on the heels of the success of the Liberty Book of Home Sewing. This book combines Liberty fabrics with floral cross stitch designs in 24 projects to make for yourself, the home and for a baby. Projects include bags, a purse, cushion, photo frame, book cover and quilt. Each project has step by step instructions accompanied by beautiful photos, and at the end of the book you have cross stitch charts and full size patterns. The designs are very pretty and take inspiration from the colours & designs used in the fabric, tying it all together. The projects would make nice gifts or beautiful touches for the home.-Sewingdirectory.co.uk Give tired old garments, accessories and more a new lease of life with the addition of cross-stitch and Liberty fabric accents. Or craft your own from scratch using the patterns in this versatile and inspiring book. Originally published in France in 2010, this book gives a contemporary touch of Paris chic to cross-stitch. Choose from projects in three sections for personal items, home decorating and making things for baby. Craft a Liberty bag with a cross stitched border top or bow, make a hair band or earrings, photo frames, tea pouch, bootees or rattle. Each project comes with a page-sized photo of the finished item, plus staged instructions (words only in most cases), a list of everything you need as well as tips. Turn to the back to find all the patterns ready to trace ,or scan and print, plus the cross-stitch charts, which are given in color. There is even a little black dress (no pattern for this, provide your own) to make fancy straps for your own bit of je ne sais quoi. Cross-stitch has been around for some time as a hobby since its revival over two decades ago, and this gives it a welcome new look for the 2010s.-Myshelf.com Combines cross-stitch designs made as hand-stitched items for the home with classic Liberty prints. The stylish projects give cross-stitch a contemporary feel. All are shown with clear instructions and easy to follow cross stitch charts.-Craft Focus Liberty of London's iconic printed fabrics are at the center of this collection of projects that combine simple sewing with cross-stitched motifs. Following Le Berre's instructions, readers sew each project using Liberty fabrics, then add cross-stitched embellishments created on regular canvas. Organized by project type (fashion and accessories, home decor, and baby), the book has plenty of variety, and none of the projects is overly involved or difficult. VERDICT Stitchers and sewers who love the romantic look of Liberty prints will adore Le Berre's designs.-Library Journal USA Helene Le Berre combines contemporary cross-stitch designs with classic Liberty prints to create 24 projects for the modern home, friends and family. Inspiring photography, full-size patterns and easy-to-use cross-stitch charts can't fail to inspire. Even the timeless little black dress is revisited and given a hand-embroidered finish.-Embroidery
