Notes on Cultural Affairs In Boston
Cedar Sigo grew up on the Suquamish reservation, outside of
Seattle, Washington. We plan on sending copies of Language Arts to
bookstores and Native American culture centers on the West
Coast.
Sigo has published books and chapbooks with many presses before us
and has connections to poets all over the country, including those
who taught him at the Naropa Institute. We will generate
word-of-mouth publicity for Language Arts by sending out
complimentary copies to established poets who know him.
San Francisco has a thriving population of poetry readers. We will
target bookstores in California, and in San Francisco in
particular.
We will also send copies to bookstores in Colorado, where he
studied at Naropa, and New York, the home of his former publisher,
Ugly Duckling Presse.
Sigo will tour to promote this book on both coasts, and will be in
attendance at AWP Seattle.
We have over 3200 Facebook followers, 9100 Twitter followers, and a
mailing list of 2000 people. We will promote Language Arts on all
of our social media sites and on our website.
Cedar Sigo was raised on the Suquamish Reservation in the Pacific Northwest and studied at The Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics at the Naropa Institute. He is the author of eight books and pamphlets of poetry, including Stranger In Town (City Lights, 2010), Expensive Magic (House Press, 2008), and two editions of Selected Writings (Ugly Duckling Presse, 2003 and 2005). He lives in San Francisco.
