Miguel Urdaneta has a Master in Science, M.S. with a concentration in Biology from the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras campus, in the area of Molecular Biology and Biological Development. He has serviced as a technician in the Microbiology Laboratory, and a professor of general microbiology, Industrial Microbiology, Applied Microbiology and Academic Coordinator of courses in microbiology. He is co-author in various scientific publications, posters and presentations in the area of Environmental and Industrial Microbiology. In 2010, he received in San Diego, California, he received the Travel Award for Minorities from the American Society of Microbiologist (ASM). That same year he had the honor of receiving in Puerto Rico the El Koury-Medina prize from the Puerto Rico Society of Microbiologist for his services to the Society. 'La Clonacion de la Batata Mameya', "Cloning the Sweet Potato" is his first novel.
