The historical context
From the age of thirteen, Daryl Tonkin and his older brother Harry worked as stockmen and horse breakers, before settling in the great forests of West Gippsland where they established a timber business. Except for a short stint in Toora, Daryl lived and worked at the original property at Jackson's Track until his death in 2008. Carolyn Landon is co-author of Cups with No Handles with Bette, Gina and Les Boyanton, and co-author with Eileen Harrison of the memoir Black Swan. Her book Jackson's Track Revisited tells the story behind the original memoir.
'Passion, drama, heartbreak and determination abound. ' - Australian 'Thought-provoking and timely, this book is a must for anyone hoping to understand Australia's past.' - Herald Sun 'A classic of its genre' - Sydney Morning Herald.
