Rosen, J. Steven was initiated into the esoteric tradition of Gaudiya Vaishnavism in 1975 by His divine grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, a prominent teacher in that lineage. Prabhupada gave Rosen the name Satyaraj dasa, which means "servant of the king of thruth". In pursuance of that thruth, Rosen has authored 15 books on east indian spirituality and has, for the past decade, served as the senior editor of the journal of Vaisnava studies.
