About the Author

Mark Nelson has been a recording and performing musician since before he could drive. A masterful player of the acoustic guitar, Appalachain dulcimer and other folk instruments, he has appeared everywhere from Kansas to Kaunakakai and from Sligo to San Diego. He's been involved writing about music technology and recording since the early days of MIDI and digital audio as a freelance writer for such magazines as Electronic Musician, Music and Computers, Revolution, and MIDI Guitar. In addition he's authored numerous instructional books for Mel Bay Publications. Mark's producing and engineering credits include award-winning CDs for Hawaiian musician Keola Beamer, early music stand-outs the Terra Nova Consort, western singe Lorraine Rawls, and many others. He lives with his wife and various furry and funny friends in Southern Oregon's Applegate Valley.
