About the Author

Mark Wheeller is one of the UK's leading playwrights, with a portfolio of award-winning works. Too Much Punch for Judy is recognised as one of the most performed contemporary plays in the world having been performed over 5000 times in its short life (1988). It was, for a few years, the most performed play in New Zealand. Some of his plays, including Hard To Swallow, have become popular GCSE texts and he has been commissioned by companies such as The Birmingham Rep, for whom he wrote Kill Jill. Graham; World's Fastest Blind Runner, which tells the true life story of one of Mark's best friends, which also won Best Youth Play in different national One-Act Play competitions two years in a row. His plays are regularly professionally toured in schools across the UK and are also available on a number of DVDs. His most recent play about human trafficking, entitled Stop the Traffik, was premiered in March 2010. He is currently part-time Executive Director of Arts at the new Oasis Academy Lord's Hill in Southampton and has nearly 30 years teaching experience. Mark also works as an educational consultant and offers freelance workshops to schools both here and abroad.

Reviews

'Exciting and challenging - in equal measure.' Alan Perks, Chief Examiner, Edexcel 'In this collection of material, Mark has done his usual honest sharing of his own teaching (and forever learning) experience, which can be really useful for those teachers who will benefit from the detailed scaffolding he provides throughout the various schemes he develops. Teachers will grasp something of the remarkable 'shape-shifting' potential of drama and theatre forms as a humanising factor in our schooling system.' Dorothy Heathcote
