About the Author

Thomas Misa directs the Charles Babbage Institute (http://www.cbi.umn.edu/), a leading international research and archiving center specializing in the history of information technology, at the University of Minnesota. There he teaches in the Program for the History of Science, Technology, and Medicine and holds the ERA Land Grant Chair in History of Technology in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. From 2014 to 2016 he was chair of the ACM History Committee, which assisted in the support and preparation of these chapters.
