This volume’s plates provide the best existing collection of numismatic material that any art historian could desire… Grierson has paid much attention to correspondences and comparisons between representations on coins and such other decorations as frescoes, mosaics, manuscripts, etc. In volume three of this series, Part I covers the period between Leo III to Michale III (867–1081), while Part II covers Bail I to Nicephorus III (867–1081).
