Danny Lyon is a writer and photographer whose photos of prison life, the Southern civil rights movement, and American Indian nations are legendary. He lives in the Hudson Valley.
Armed with a tape recorder, cameras, and a Triumph 650, Lyon joined the Chicago Outlaws motorcycle club in the late 1960s. As one of the gang-literally-Lyons was able to get the inside line on the life of outlaw bikers. After four years of shooting photos and recording stories, he produced this volume in 1968. It was the first such book to tackle the subject seriously. This Chronicle reprint includes all of the original material plus 15 new photos, and a new preface by the author.
