Foreword by Maggie Smart - Barry Sheene's sister. Son of a motorcycle racer, entrant and tuner (Frank Sheene), Barry began racing 125 and 250 Bultacos in 1968. In 1973, with Suzuki, he won the British 500cc title, becoming 'King of Brands'. Brave fightbacks from injury after two high-speed crashes - Daytona in 1975 and Silverstone in 1982. Two years of 500cc domination, 1976 and 1977, then battling with Kenny Roberts. Sheene won MCN's 'Man of the Year' a remarkable fifth time in 1979. After retirement in 1984 he moved to Australia, becoming a forthright TV commentator. Lost a very public battle with cancer in March 2003. A Grand Prix journalist since 1984, Michael Scott has written more than 15 books, including a previous biography of Barry Sheene. He is a world authority on motorcycle racing, has met all the surviving World Champions, and knew Sheene personally.
