This is a wonderful story.
A vital, emotional and impactive book that will be read, re-read
and celebrated as one of the most important children's books of all
time.
A small miracle of compassionate storytelling.
A tour de force … full of warmth and love.A small miracle of
compassionate storytelling.Sarah Garland tenderly creates a story
of hope from the troubled experience of immigration in this
warm-hearted picture book.It is unusual to come across a picture
book that one feels so strongly about that one wants everyone –
whatever their age – to read it... Garland treats her subject with
unpatronising, well-informed sensitivity.a very powerful storyAn
attractively produced book that succeeds in explaining some of the
difficulties faced by an immigrant child adjusting to the culture
of a host country.'Her sensitive handling of it masks the weight
and significance of the subject which Garland is introducing to her
young readers.'AS SEEN IN COMMENT ARTICLE BY NICKY PARKER, AMNESTY
INTERNATIONAL"We endorse picture books for young children, such as
Azzi in Between, which is about a refugee child… We need to move
beyond the status quo."The book presents the reader with a window
into the life of a refugee family – or, perhaps more importantly,
it may present the reader with a mirror, that reflects back a
character who they can relate to on a personal level. This is a
wonderful story.A vital, emotional and impactive book that will be
read, re-read and celebrated as one of the most important
children's books of all time.
