About the Author

Mark Bowden is an archaeologist who has made a special study of hillforts and castles. He is the author of several books and articles on landscape archaeology and history. Graham Brown is based in the English Heritage Archaeological Survey and Investigation team. Nicky Smith is based in the English Heritage Archaeological Survey and Investigation team.
