With the rebirth (reincarnation, rather) of the outrageously popular sci-fi series Doctor Who on the BBC, there comes (of course) the soundtrack. This time out, Murray Gold mans the TARDIS' stereo controls and, with the help of accomplished orchestrator Ben Foster, offers up some of the best music the series has ever had. From the tasteful reworking of Ron Grainer's ubiquitous theme music to the Walker Brothers-channeling tracks by the Divine Comedy's Neil Hannon, this collection of music absolutely nails the vibe and style that make Doctor Who such an enduringly popular series. There are times when Foster seems to borrow a bit heavily from the doom-and-gloom choruses of the latter three Star Wars prequels (see "The Daleks" for some serious Anakin angst drama), but this hits the mark nonetheless. ~ J. When I saw Tennant and Piper on the cover, I assumed the music would be taken purely from Series 2, so maybe Christopher Eccleston's head could have been popped on as well. This is without a doubt great music, and my favourite would have to be Song For Ten. The music can be funny, and it can be touching, but it is all wonderful. Highly recommended for fans of the series.

A brilliant soundtrack for anyone who is a fan of the show. Sound quality is excellent too. Songs include favourites from season 1 and 2 including "Westminster Bridge" from episode 1 of season 1 and "Doomsday" from the season finale of season 2. Also included are two songs sung my Neil Hannon (composed by Murray Gold), which appear in the series and encompass the emotion behind the characters so superbly. These are "Song For Ten" which appears in the Christmas Invasion (when David Tennant becomes the tenth Doctor) and "Love Don't Roam" which technically belongs to the season 3 pilot Christmas special. This really is a brilliant soundtrack and the sound that comes from the BBC National Orchesta of Wales shows just how much emotion the music itself brings to the already fantastic television series. Great value, excellent quality; a must have for any fan.
