About the Author

Tina Modotti (1896-1942) was one of the most outstanding photographers of the 20th century. Initially influenced by Edward Weston, Modotti developed a unique documentary style and became internationally recognized for her photographs of Mexico. Deeply involved in the revolutionary movements of her time, she was a contemporary of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera. She died at the age of 46.

Rachel Kirby is a graphic artist based in Melbourne, Australia. She was the coeditor of "America, My Brother, My Blood" featuring the work of Ecuadoran artist Oswaldo Guayasamin and Chilean poet Pablo Neruda.
