About the Author

Stephen was born in 1960, with a love of railways from his earliest days.His first photograph was a rather dull view of a DMU approaching Filey Station in 1966. On his 8th birthday in August 1968, he declared that he wanted to be a steam engine driver - only to be told they were going out of service a few days later. So he took up writing about them instead...A Museum Curator by profession, he has worked in Bristol, Merthyr Tydfil and at the Liverpool Football Club Museum since 1997.He volunteers on both the Llangollen, and the Welshpool & Llanfair railways, likes real English ale & bird watching, as well as supporting Liverpool Football Club
