Official Website: www.colincomer.com Early in his career, CARROLL SHELBY's accomplishments as a race car driver included breaking land-speed records at Bonneville and winning Le Mans in 1959 with teammate Roy Salvadori. As a team manager, Carroll was part of the FIA World Grand Touring Championship as well as the Ford GT victories at Le Mans. When his health forced him to give up racing in 1960, Carroll turned his attention to design. The result is what is considered to be perhaps the greatest sports car and one of the fastest road cars ever constructed: the Shelby Cobra. Even today, Ford's premier Mustang carries the Shelby name and iconic snake logo.

Reviews

"Author Colin Comer freely admits that he was captivated by the legend of the Shelby Cobra at a young age and remains so. As a Cobra owner, restorer and racer, he brings to his book insider knowledge, not only talking the talk but also walking the walk. Beautifully laid out with a plethora of nicely reproduced photos." - Vintage Motorsport

"Carroll Shelby died on May 10, 2012, a palpable loss to the automotive community. A car like his Cobra will never be repeated. If you hanker to know more about the machine that emanated a ground-shaking rumble from its side-pipes, and do not already own Comer's earlier Shelby Cobra: 50 Years, you cannot do better than this superb book." - Petrolicious

"In this book, Shelby Cobra - The snake that conquered the world Colin Comer takes us on the trail of Carroll Shelby's wild yet simple idea of putting gargantuan power into a relatively light car. This book was first published in 2011 under the title Cobra Fifty Years, so many fans out there will be familiar with it, but this is the Collectors Edition with updated material. For first timers, be assured that the $75.00 price befits a glossy 272-page book measuring 9.75" x 12" and packed with almost 400 superbly produced photographs (period and modern). In fact, if this was merely a picture book, I'd probably still say it was worth every cent. This may be the only Cobra book you'll ever need to own, and the fact that the late Carroll Shelby himself penned the Foreword to the 2011 edition would suggest this is the definitive work on this hallowed beast." - RACER.com
