About the Author

Karen Dawn Blum was born in the Detroit suburb of Southfield, Michigan. Her love of reading led to a flare for writing. As a teenager she wrote poetry and song lyrics. In college many of her poems were published it the student newspaper. After graduating as a dental hygienist, she married her dentist husband and spent the next thirty years raising her three wonderful children. She spent much time during those years writing letters and school newsletter articles. One campaign led to the installation of safety paths throughout her township of residence. School Stinks! is the second book in the series, Kate Baker and Friends. In Camp Stinks!, Karen Dawn Blum introduced readers to Kate Baker. School Stinks! gives voice to The Cabbage, Kate's on-again, off-again best friend. Karen lives in Michigan within a few miles of her junior high. She to bring people together and enjoys planning parties and reunions. She spends her spare time with her adult children and now enjoys Elliot, her first grandson. When she isn't writing, Karen enjoys cooking, works as a dental hygienist, and owns Space Plan-it, a design consultation business. Karen is the publisher, writer and editor of her subdivision newsletter, The Glens Gazette. She is a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators. Karen is currently writing the third book in her Kate Baker and Friends series.
