About the Author

Stan Oken is the former Chairman of Fresno's County Board of Supervisors, parent of three children, foster parent to several at risk teens, director and owner of the popular River Way Ranch Camps. For the past 30 years Stan has sponsored hundreds of children who are survivors of fires. Stan's business is the two time recipient of California's Outstanding Family Business Award and California's First Five as a business that is child friendly for employees. Stan readily and happily admits that his biological children have been profoundly influenced by his dedication to children in need, and that each of them now has several foster or adopted children of their own.
