Joe S Sando
A historian (Pueblo Nations: Eight Centuries of Pueblo Indian History, Clear Light, 1992) and archivist at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center in New Mexico, Sando has collected biographical information on 29 Pueblo Indian leaders of the 20th century, many of whom have been important political leaders. These Indians live in the Rio Grande Valley of New Mexico and have worked together politically for many years. In this book, short essays on the high points of Pueblo history, such as the Pueblo Revolt of 1620, are interspersed with the biographical sketches containing information on the subject's educational, personal, and political life. Useful for regional libraries and for libraries with large Native American history collections.‘Gwen Gregory, New Mexico State Univ. Lib., Las Cruces
