About the Author

Dr Jana Vytrhlik was born in Prague, where she studied Fine Arts; she later completed her doctoral thesis on Judaica. She has worked as an art journalist, book editor and curator in the State Jewish Museum in Prague. After migrating to Australia in 1986, Jana Vytrhlik became manager of the Education and Visitor Services Department at the Powerhouse Museum and curated Precious Legacy: treasures from the Jewish Museum in Prague. Suzanne D. Rutland is an educator, historian and author involved with Australian Jewish history. Her book Edge of the Diaspora is now in its second edition. She is senior lecturer in Jewish Civilisation in Semitic Studies at the University of Sydney.
