About the Author

Ohio-born Frank B. Linderman (1869-1938) spent his adult life in Montana, first as a trapper, then as a publisher, politician, and businessman. Phenocia Bauerle and Barney Old Coyote, Jr., are the editor and compiler, respectively, of The Way of the Warrior: Stories of the Crow People (Nebraska, 2003). Timothy P. McCleary teaches in the department of anthropology, University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, and is the author of The Stars We Know: Crow Indian Astronomy and Lifeways. Celeste River is a Montana scholar, photographer, and research consultant who has lectured throughout the state on the life and writings of Linderman.
