English review below Llyfr hanes syml, ar gyfer oedolion yn bennaf,
ywr gyfrol fechan, ddwyieithog, hon er ei bod yn cael ei hysbysebu
fel cyfrol addas ar gyfer pob oedran. Ceir yma amlinelliad o stori
gyffrous a chignoeth ymgyrch Glyndŵr yn erbyn gormes llywodraeth
Lloegr fel yi gwelid yng Nghymru yn ystod y bedwaredd ganrif ar
ddeg. Cyflwynir yma hefyd gip sydyn ar amgylchiadau personol yr
arwr. Weithiau y maen darllen yn gatalogaidd, yn enwedig wrth
restru llwyddiannau a methiannau Glyndŵr yn ei frwydrau cyson, ac
nid oes grym yn y dweud i gyd-fynd â thân y brwydro. Rhan or
gyfres Cip ar Gymru ywr gyfrol hon, ac fel arolwg plaen,
ffeithiol or digwyddiadau adeg y Gwrthryfel y maen dderbyniol
iawn, os ychydig yn ddi-antur ei mynegiant. Ynghyd âr ffeithiau
hyn am Owain Glyndŵr, Tywysog Cymru ac arwr y bobl, ceir toreth o
luniau tra diddorol, lliw llawn, o lawer math ar ddisgyblaeth. Yn
eu plith cynhwyswyd ffotograffau perthnasol i fyd archaeoleg,
ffotograffau S4C o Ray Gravell a J.O. Roberts yn portreadu Owain
Glyndŵr mewn dramâu teledu, lluniau gan yr arlunwyr Aneurin Jones a
Margaret Jones, ynghyd ag amryfal benddelwau or Tywysog, ar cyfan
yn rhoir lliw ar symudiad angenrheidiol ir llyfr. * * * For
anyone wanting a short introduction to Owain Glyndŵr there can be
no better publication than this. This booklet serves as a summary
of most of the known facts about the life and times of this great
Welsh prince, and also brings the story up to date with mention of
ways in which he is still commemorated even today. An interesting
statistic appears on the first page: did you know that Owain
Glyndŵrs name appeared seventh in a list of one hundred names in a
poll by The Sunday Times when world-famous people were asked to
nominate the most influential people of the last millennium? The
story of the revolt of Owain Glyndŵr is told concisely and fully,
and the brutality of the medieval period is not spared, explaining
in fine detail how victims were executed on capture. The matter of
Owain Glyndŵrs disappearance is touched on, as is the later
representation of Owain Glyndŵr in art and sculpture. The booklet
is amply illustrated, considering how little contemporary
illustrative material exists. And so the prince of Wales,
immortalised by Shakespeare, is once more brought to life.
