About the Author

Gordon Ball was born in Paterson, New Jersey and grew up in Tokyo, Japan. He attended Davidson College where he won the college writing prize awarded by novelist Reynolds Price. He has published three memoirs ('66 Frames, Dark Music, and East Hill Farm: Seasons with Allen Ginsberg) and a number of short stories and poems. He edited three books with Ginsberg; his photographs, Ginsberg & Beat Fellows, have been published and exhibited widely, and he has made prize-winning independent films. He's taught as a Fulbright Specialist Lecturer in Japan, for the United States Information Agency in Poland, and at several universities in the United States. He is currently at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia.
