"Impressive," "breathtaking," "disquieting," "astounding," "instigating," are words that came to my mind to describe this book. Nevertheless, they don't do it justice in literary terms. One needs to read No Degrees of Separation to realize that the pleasure of the written word and sexual pleasure share the same root. Ana Cecilia Carvalho, Estado de Minas No Degrees of Separation, by Noga Sklar, is the second best-selling ebook in Brazil (2012). Noga Sklar's novel, written in 2004, but published only in 2012, is based upon the true story of a couple who meets in the internet, and engage in a relationship filled, let's say, with piquant virtual conversations. Marceu Vieira, O Globo The best of No Degrees of Separation is its very well-written dialogue, which deals with deep subjects such as religion, memory and love relationships: "To feel saudade means to miss someone, but it's mixed with yearning... to lament the absence, a sort of pain tempered with desire, dreaming, love and nostalgia in the same concept." The author is very effective in developing the increasing expectation about the real, physical encounter, as the couple's affinities intensify. Andre Luiz Mansur, O Globo No Degrees of Separation describes a unique journey in which two strangers fell in love and developed a profound spiritual and sexual relationship entirely within the medium of cyberspace before ultimately meeting in real life. The book is a compelling read that speaks to the ways in which people in our global society can transcend space and connect through the increasingly complex technologies available today.
