Edmund L. Palmer grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where he developed his many interests in, among other things, snakes, vintage cars, baseball, American history and photography. During World War II, he served in the China-Burma-India Theater of war and was attached to the 14th Army Air Force, Flying Tiger Division, as a military policeman and motorcycle dispatch rider during the Japanese invasion of northern India. He received the Asiatic-Pacific Theater ribbon with three bronze stars. His interest in American history led to a thirty-year career as a public school teacher. He earned a B.A. from Eastern Michigan University and an M.A. from the University of Michigan. Mr. Palmer resides in Ann Arbor, Michigan with his wife, Elaine, and their adoring and adorable cocker spaniel, Teddy Bear.
