Diane Garden first started writing poems in graduate school while earning her Ph.D. in comparative literature at New York University. While there, she studied with Galway Kinnell and Carolyn Forché who taught in the MFA Program. She has published poems in many journals, including Présence Africaine, Mid-America, Oyez, and Mankata, and won the Gwendolyn Brooks Award for Best Poem in the Midwestern Poetry Festival, and other awards. She has taught literature and writing for over twenty-five years to college and gifted high school students. Now retired from teaching, she lives in Mobile, Al., with her husband.
