About the Author

Claire Charters is a senior lecturer in law at Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand and teaches and publishes in international and constitutional law on the rights of indigenous peoples.

Dr. Rodolfo Stavenhagen has been the UN Special Reporter on the situation of human rights and fundamental freedoms of indigenous people from 2001 until 2008, and is Emeritus Professor of sociology at El Colegio de MExico.
