King Plumpapuff suggests that you read this charming tale surrounded by plumped-up cushions whilst consuming creampuffs
Andre Maurois was born in France in 1885. He worked in his father's textile factory as a young man and when World War One broke out he was employed as an interpreter, then as a liaison officer to the British Army. He wrote many novels for adults. Fattypuffs and Thinifers is his only book for children.
An ingenious moral tale
*Glasgow Herald*
This classic story, first published in 1930, immediately seduces
the reader with its hilarious world existing just under the surface
of our own… Full of good jokes – mainly at the expense of the
Fattypuffs – and good drawings by Fritz Wegner
*Guardian*
One of our favourite books as children
*Daily Mail*
Wegner’s drawings of the lands of the Thinifer and Fattypuff people
are heartwarming, imaginative and kind, but, more importantly, they
are very funny
*The Times*
