Reviews

"This biography for scholars and students chronicles the life and impact of Scottish missionary Dr. John Philips, who advocated for the rights of South Africa's indigenous tribes during the 19th-century era of colonialism in South Africa. In addition to describing Philips's efforts to end slavery and stop the dispossession of the Xhosa people, the book also details his interactions with Dutch and English colonists and his conflicts with other missionaries and the colonial government in South Africa. The book includes color and b&w historical photos and illustrations and b&w maps."--ProtoView
