Lina D. Dostilio is a highereducation leader who has spent her career connecting universities with theirbroader communities. Her scholarship has focused on the Community EngagementProfessional in Higher Education and Hyperlocal, Place-Based Engagement. Shehas held a number of administrative and faculty appointments and was previouslya Scholar-in-Residence with Campus Compact, a Research Fellow with theCoalition of Urban and Metropolitan Universities, and is a member of theAcademic of Community Engagement Scholarship.

A Competency Model is an academicintroduction to the model and is an edited volume, with different authorsexplaining their academic contributions to subsets of competencies. \Itreads like a formal panel presentation at an academic conference, with eachchapter representing a research team's contributions to the whole. An authoredtext, the feels more like a coaching session with a mentor--a singular voice inan informal tone encouraging reflection.
Without question, Dostilio and hercoauthors have made a monumental contribution to the field of communityengagement with the Community Engaged Professional [CEP] competency model.Surely this model will ignite more research on the profession of CEPs, providea framework for professional development, and enhance community-campuspartnerships.
