Katherine Sturtrevant studied creative writing at San Francisco State University, where she received her B.A. in 1976 and her M.A. in 1993. Her articles and reviews have been published widely in America, but it is as a writer of historical fiction for young adults that she has found particular joy. Her knowledge of Restoration London is vast, and her depictions of the era graphic, memorable and wonderfully vivid. Katherine grew up in California's Santa Clara Valley. She comes from a book loving family; her grandmother worked at the Library of Congress during the 1940s; her mother was a school librarian for many years and always brought home wonderfully written stories, many of them set in other eras. Katherine now lives in Berkeley, California with her husband and twin sons. She writes at home for much of the year, and retreats for at least two weeks every winter to a snowy log cabin in the mountains.
